Our Work

Big Apple Circus

The Circus was the setting of a yearly holiday event put together by this well-known hybrid fund in New York. The events goal was to entertain their client’s families, friends and employees during this end of year event. After several years of being challenged with the creative task of wowing their guests with exciting event materials, GreyBox had to think outside the box. This 2007 event met the challenge by utilizing exceptional creativity, specialty printing, binding and packaging.

Overview

A clown and the circus go hand in hand. When talking with Reservoir, we found out, to the delight of kids and employees alike that the senior management would wear red clown noses and dress as clowns throughout the event. We thought this was a great tie in with the year’s theme for the invitation. We created a customized die cut of the clowns head to be sprial bound together with the rest of the invitation pages to create an energetic, fun and vibrant invite that included a prop.
The images were supplied by Big Apple Circus and included action shots of acts and performances that the audience would be experiencing at the event. On every page of the invitation, a circle had to be die cut out in order to house the nose of the clown. Instead of being a hindrance, we embraced this and worked the design elements of the page around the circle and incorporated it into each page’s design.
All colors were bright and vibrant paired with big bold typography that was symbolic with circus themed events. We additionally designed various background textures and patterns to work throughout the invite. The fun and energetic design continued through on the RSVP cards and envelopes.
